JOE'S NEW SINGLE "PLEASANT VALLEY SUNDAY"
RELEASE SEPTEMBER 1ST!
Thank you for visiting my website. I am excited to announce that Tuesday, September 1st I am releasing a digital download for my new single “Pleasant Valley Sunday”. This is the first studio recording since the release of my debut full-length album ‘Ebb and Flow’ in 2013.
Digital downloads will be available through this website, as well as through CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, and dozens of the most popular download and streaming sites.
Pleasant Valley Sunday was originally written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin in 1966 about Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, NJ, where they lived as a married couple at the time. King and Goffin moved from Brooklyn to West Orange. Uncomfortable in their suburban setting, with backyard swimming pools and barbecues, Pleasant Valley Sunday was written as social commentary laced with satirical lyrics about living in the suburbs, status symbols, creature comforts, consumerism, and petty materialism. Pleasant Valley Sunday was made famous by The Monkees in 1967 – it became one of their most successful singles.
Pleasant Valley Sunday is timeless because it covers topics that are still relevant today. The song is an understated comment on ‘keeping up with the Joneses’, while maintaining a constant, driving pop groove. And no one’s heard it like this before!
Musicians on ’Pleasant Valley Sunday’ include:
Joe Duraes - lead and harmony vocals, acoustic and electric guitars
Steve Geller - bass
Rodman del Castillo - lead guitar
Kevin Hupp - drums, harmony vocals
Produced and Recorded By: Kevin Hupp at The Groove Room in Brewster, NY
Mastered By: Frank Gagliardi in Nashville, TN
Thanks for listening!
